About
Buzz Effects began after owner Christopher Carroll had built a new guitar. As a disabled veteran, he wanted to utilize the skills and passion he had for music to take something he loved in an entirely new direction. After serving in the military he suffered a spinal injury which caused Chris' guitar playing proficiency to drop (he'll tell you it will never keep him from playing!). He wanted to find an avenue to explore if his condition were to worsen. Building guitars seemed natural to him, but the upfront costs were high and he lacked the proper space needed for the right equipment. This dream slowly faded away for about a year. However, it wasn't long until another idea popped into existence from another of Chris' obsessions....effects pedals! It seemed logical...he had tons of them and he had a great deal of electrical experience. He ordered parts from several sources and built a few....then a few more...and then a couple more...gave some away...built more...gave some as gifts...and the response was terrific! To start the business off right Chris needed to design his own circuit boards which slowed things down for a while, but now that the circuit boards are designed, manufacturing has kicked into high gear!

Buzz Effects is currently only run by Chris. He handles the duties associated with the small local Maine business. While Chris does the electronics work during the day, he'll often get to the rest of the duties the business demands in the evening. The name Buzz Effects was an idea from Chris's son Drew, who with his sister Reese are pure inspirations for him at Buzz Effects for finding new innovations in effects pedals.
